About this journal
Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems (KMAE-Bulletin Français de la Pêche et de la Pisciculture since 1928) serves as a foundation for scientific advice across the broad spectrum of management and conservation issues related to freshwater ecosystems. The journal publishes articles, short communications, reviews, comments and replies that contribute to a scientific understanding of freshwater ecosystems and the impact of human activities upon these systems. Its scope includes economic, social, and public administration studies, in so far as they are directly concerned with the management of freshwater ecosystems (e.g. European Water Framework Directive, USA Clean Water Act, Canadian Water Quality Guidelines, …) and prove of general interest to freshwater specialists. Papers on insular freshwater ecosystems and on transitional waters or estuaries are welcome. KMAE is not a preferred journal for taxonomical, physiological, biological, toxicological studies, unless a clear link to ecological aspects can be established. Articles with a very descriptive content can be accepted if they are part of a broader ecological context. Subjects covered: Structure and dynamics of aquatic ecosystems (hydrobiology, aquatic ecology, trophic food webs, hydromorphology, river continuity, migrations and invasions); impacts and adaptations to global changes (Climate Change effects and biodiversity loss, conflicts between water uses, species repartition area evolution, dynamics of ecosystems, biological indicators for river monitoring, water quality and ecosystems damages, ecotoxicological impacts, …); socio-economical analysis of environmental benefits and impacts (economical analysis of natural resources and ecological services, sociology, stakeholders, governance); bioconservation, ecosystems restoration and ecological engineering, fisheries management, and other related management topics, all constitute the key elements of eligible papers. Special issues on current topics or following conferences are considered in consultation with the editor. Same standards for acceptance are rigidly applied to both regular and special editions.
“I spent hours with MS word for reformatting and in Google docs. It was frustrating - plain and simple. With Typeset, I can draft my manuscripts and once it is finished I can just submit. In case, I have to submit to another Journal it is really just a button click instead of an afternoon of reformatting. It is a very innovative solution to the formatting problem and existing providers, such as Mendeley or Word did not really evolve in recent years."
