Due to external challenges necessitating high degrees of innovation and customisation without sacrificing cost and quality, many industrial firms need to transform their entire approach to product development. Traditionally, industrial firms have adopted a singular approach to product development based on theories that deal with the development of individual products, individual projects and their management, individual designers and developers, and so on. However, in order to mass-customise products and services - whilst, at the same time, standardising and streamlining a product platform internally - it is necessary to transform product development theory and praxis towards a perception called Multiple Product Development. read more read less

The purpose of this empirical study is to develop a conceptual framework to understand how organisational culture and organisational learning contribute to innovation performance. The research was conducted in seven Taiwan's high-tech industries through distributing survey questionnaires, the results showed that there is a positive and significant association between organisational culture and innovation, and also between organisational learning and innovation performance as well. The findings also revealed that different types of organisational culture and learning have different levels of influence on innovation. This means that firms of efficient culture have the best process innovation, and firms of innovative culture have the best administrative and product innovation. As for organisational learning, the result proves that firms of high learning-oriented have better process, administrative and product innovation than those of low learning-oriented. The implications of this research are also discussed. read more read less

Large amounts of money are spent all over the world on R&D, in order to ensure future sustainability. However, much of this research fails to meet its full potential. These R&D projects are often costly and inefficient due to problems associated with working in a team environment, involving members from different geographical regions. One of the main limiting factors that reduce the potential output of this type of project is the poor communication, knowledge sharing and learning between members of the virtual team. In this context, collaboration and virtual team management are key issues that need to be addressed by today's innovation projects. This paper presents a literature review developed on the concept of collaboration between individuals working in a team and the advantages and requirements of virtual teams. It also presents a possible solution for the development of a virtual team environment that fosters better learning and innovation and ensures a good collaboration between individuals working in an innovation project. read more read less
