The new combination with CRITIC and WASPAS methods for the time and attendance software selection problem

Today many companies are performing the digital time and attendance systems that automatically track and process the data to improve their operations and save money. There are many alternatives for the time and attendance systems in the market and appropriate selection among them is not easy in the presence of multiple, usually conflicting, criteria. So this selection may be considered as a Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem. In this paper, the new combined decision making approach based on Criteria Importance Through Inter criteria Correlation (CRITIC) and Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) methods is used for the time and attendance software selection problem of the private hospital. The weights of the criteria are determined by CRITIC method and the alternatives are ranked by WASPAS method for finding the most suitable alternative. The novelty of this paper to the literature is to combine CRITIC and WASPAS methods for the first time. read more read less

Central force optimization: A new deterministic gradient-like optimization metaheuristic

This paper introduces central force optimization as a new, nature-inspired metaheuristic for multidimensional search and optimization based on the metaphor of gravitational kinematics. CFO is a “gradient-like” deterministic algorithm that explores a decision space by “flying” a group of “probes” whose trajectories are governed by equations analogous to the equations of gravitational motion in the physical universe. This paper suggests the possibility of creating a new “hyperspace directional derivative” using the Unit Step function to create positive-definite “masses” in “CFO space.” A simple CFO implementation is tested against several recognized benchmark functions with excellent results, suggesting that CFO merits further investigation. read more read less

Variations of the classical Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) consider clients that require pick-up and delivery service, simultaneously or not. Each variation corresponds to a specific routing policy, applicable to a given context. Although several routing problems of this nature are defined in the literature, there are relationships among them that define one problem as a particular case of another, which allows transformation among problems. We classify these problems on the basis of the characteristics of the service required by the clients. We study in particular the Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pickup and Delivery Service. This problem may be solved for example through a tour partitioning heuristic developed for the traveling salesman problem (TSP). The routing in each segment of the partitioned tour is achieved by solving capacitated TSP subproblems with simultaneous pick-up and delivery service. Computational results are given for a set of problems available in the literature. read more read less

The Inventory Replenishment Policy for Deteriorating Items Under Permissible Delay in Payments

01 Dec 2000 - Opsearch

Abstract:

This paper explores the Inventory replenishment policy for deteriorating items under permissible delay in payments. The inventory system discussed by this paper is the same as that of Shah [Cahiers du CERO, volume 35 (1993), 115–123]. At first, this paper shows that the total variable cost per unit time is convex. Then, with convexity, a simple optimization procedure is developed to improve that described by Shah. Numerical examples reveal that our optimization procedure is very accurate and rapid. Moreover, it is better than that described in Shah’s paper. read more read less
