Journal ArticleDOI

Ectopic expression of Arabidopsis ABC transporter MRP7 modifies cadmium root-to-shoot transport and accumulation.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that heterologous expression of AtMRP7 in tobacco modifies cadmium accumulation, distribution and tolerance, and its overexpression increased tobacco Cd-tolerance and resulted in enhanced Cadmium concentration in leaf vacuoles, indicating more efficient detoxification by means of vacuolar storage.
Journal ArticleDOI

HMA4 expression in tobacco reduces Cd accumulation due to the induction of the apoplastic barrier

TL;DR: The physical apoplastic barrier within the external cell layer developed, which is likely to be responsible for the reduction of Cd uptake/accumulation in tobacco, contributes to understanding the mechanisms underlying this Cd-dependent phenotype.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of subcellular distribution of cadmium and phytochelatins in the generation of distinct phenotypes of AtPCS1- and CePCS3-expressing tobacco.

TL;DR: It is shown that Cd hypersensitivity of AtPCS1-expressing tobacco results from a significant decrease in both the cytosolic and vacuolar pool of PCs, indicating a decreased cadmium detoxification capacity, and enhanced Cd tolerance of CePCS plants was accompanied by an increased cytosoli and vacUolar SH of PC/Cd ratio, suggesting more efficient Cd detoxification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ca2+-dependent plant response to Pb2+ is regulated by LCT1

TL;DR: Results suggest the involvement of TaLCT1 in the regulation of Ca-dependent Pb-detoxification, and under conditions of low calcium in lead uptake and distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elimination of interferences in determination of platinum and palladium in environmental samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of cation exchange resins (Dowex 50 WX-8, Dowex HCR-S, Varion KS, Cellex-P) was evaluated in order to eliminate the spectral interferences noted when Pt and Pd is determined in environmental dust samples by ICP-MS.
