Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Stochastic Processes in Physics and Chemistry

We consider the Saint-Venant system for shallow water flows, with nonflat bottom. It is a hyperbolic system of conservation laws that approximately describes various geophysical flows, such as rivers, coastal areas, and oceans when completed with a Coriolis term, or granular flows when completed with friction. Numerical approximate solutions to this system may be generated using conservative finite volume methods, which are known to properly handle shocks and contact discontinuities. However, in general these schemes are known to be quite inaccurate for near steady states, as the structure of their numerical truncation errors is generally not compatible with exact physical steady state conditions. This difficulty can be overcome by using the so-called well-balanced schemes. We describe a general strategy, based on a local hydrostatic reconstruction, that allows us to derive a well-balanced scheme from any given numerical flux for the homogeneous problem. Whenever the initial solver satisfies some classical stability properties, it yields a simple and fast well-balanced scheme that preserves the nonnegativity of the water height and satisfies a semidiscrete entropy inequality.

We prove that, if the initial data has moments inv higher than three, then the solution of Vlasov-Poisson has also moments inv higher than three. We deduce from this different regularity results on the local density, the force field or the solution itself. Also we give a new uniqueness result, and new regularity results for solutions satisfying only the energy andL
∞ bounds. Our proofs are based on a new representation formula and logarithmic estimates for the force field.

Propagation of moments and regularity for the 3-dimensional Vlasov-Poisson system

The Keller-Segel system describes the collective motion of cells which are attracted by a chemical substance and are able to emit it In its simplest form it is a conservative drift-diffusion equation for the cell density coupled to an elliptic equation for the chemo-attractant concentration It is known that, in two space dimensions, for small initial mass, there is global existence of solutions and for large initial mass blow-up occurs In this paper we complete this picture and give a detailed proof of the existence of weak solutions below the critical mass, above which any solution blows-up in finite time in the whole euclidean space Using hypercontractivity methods, we establish regularity results which allow us to prove an inequality relating the free energy and its time derivative For a solution with sub-critical mass, this allows us to give for large times an ``intermediate asymptotics'' description of the vanishing In self-similar coordinates, we actually prove a convergence result to a limiting self-similar solution which is not a simple reflect of the diffusion
