Journal ArticleDOI

MXene: a promising transition metal carbide anode for lithium-ion batteries

TL;DR: In this paper, Li insertion into a 2D layered Ti-C-based material (MXene) with an oxidized surface, formed by etching Al from Ti₂AlC in HF at room temperature, was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

One-step synthesis of nanocrystalline transition metal oxides on thin sheets of disordered graphitic carbon by oxidation of MXenes.

TL;DR: It is shown that heating 2D Ti3C2 in air results in TiO2 nanocrystals enmeshed in thin sheets of disordered graphitic carbon structures that can handle extremely high cycling rates when tested as anodes in lithium ion batteries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics of aluminum extraction from Ti3AlC2 in hydrofluoric acid

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of particle size, time and temperature on the kinetics of the selective extraction of Al from the ternary layered transition metal carbide, Ti3AlC2, when powders of the latter are immersed in hydrofluoric acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Metal Ion Intercalation on the Structure of MXene and Water Dynamics on its Internal Surfaces.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that intercalation with potassium cations significantly improves structural homogeneity and water stability in MXenes, suggesting greater stability of hydrated MXene against changing environmental conditions.
