Free vibration of laminated composite and sandwich plates using global–local higher-order theory
Wu Zhen,Chen Wanji +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the global-local higher-order theory is used to study the free vibration of laminated composite and sandwich plates, which can satisfy the free surface conditions and the geometric and stress continuity conditions at interfaces, and the number of unknowns is independent of the layer numbers of the laminate.
Journal ArticleDOI
An assessment of several displacement-based theories for the vibration and stability analysis of laminated composite and sandwich beams
Wu Zhen,Chen Wanji +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the order number of higher-order shear deformation as well as interlaminar continuity of transverse shear stress on the global response of both laminated beams and soft-core sandwiches has been also studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Refined quadrilateral element based on Mindlin/Reissner plate theory
Chen Wanji,Y.K. Cheung +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new quadrilateral thin/thick plate element RDKQM based on the Mindlin/Reissner plate theory is proposed, which can pass the patch test required for the Kirchhoff thin plate elements, and most important, it is free from locking phenomenon for extremely thin plates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hygrothermal effects on multilayered composite plates using a refined higher order theory
TL;DR: In this article, a four-node quadrilateral plate element based on the global-local higher order theory (GLHOT) is proposed to study the response of laminated composite plates due to a variation in temperature and moisture concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
An accurate higher-order theory and C0 finite element for free vibration analysis of laminated composite and sandwich plates
TL;DR: In this paper, the first derivative of transverse displacement has been taken out from the in-plane displacement fields of the C 0 finite element and the C 1 plate bending elements have been employed to predict accurately dynamic response of such structures.
