Journal ArticleDOI
The American College of Rheumatology preliminary diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia and measurement of symptom severity.
Frederick Wolfe,Daniel J. Clauw,Mary Ann Fitzcharles,Don L. Goldenberg,Robert S. Katz,Philip J. Mease,Anthony S. Russell,I. Jon Russell,John B. Winfield,Muhammad B. Yunus +9 more
TL;DR: To develop simple, practical criteria for clinical diagnosis of fibromyalgia that are suitable for use in primary and specialty care and that do not require a tender point examination, and to provide a severity scale for characteristic fibromyalgic symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fibromyalgia criteria and severity scales for clinical and epidemiological studies: a modification of the ACR Preliminary Diagnostic Criteria for Fibromyalgia
Frederick Wolfe,Daniel J. Clauw,Mary Ann Fitzcharles,Don L. Goldenberg,Winfried Häuser,Robert S. Katz,Philip J. Mease,Anthony S. Russell,I. Jon Russell,John B. Winfield +9 more
TL;DR: A fibromyalgia survey questionnaire is developed using a modification of the 2010 American College of Rheumatology Preliminary Diagnostic Criteria for Fibromyalgia (ACR 2010) to allow their use in epidemiologic and clinical studies without the requirement for an examiner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional magnetic resonance imaging evidence of augmented pain processing in fibromyalgia
Richard H. Gracely,Richard H. Gracely,Frank Petzke,Julie M. Wolf,Daniel J. Clauw,Daniel J. Clauw +5 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis that FM is characterized by cortical or subcortical augmentation of pain processing is supported, because comparable subjectively painful conditions resulted in activation patterns that were similar in patients and controls, whereas similar pressures resulted in no common regions of activation and greater effects in patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fibromyalgia: A clinical review
TL;DR: Fibromyalgia may be considered as a discrete diagnosis or as a constellation of symptoms characterized by central nervous system pain amplification with concomitant fatigue, memory problems, and sleep and mood disturbances.
Journal ArticleDOI
2016 Revisions to the 2010/2011 fibromyalgia diagnostic criteria
Frederick Wolfe,Daniel J. Clauw,Mary Ann Fitzcharles,Don L. Goldenberg,Don L. Goldenberg,Winfried Häuser,Robert L. Katz,Philip J. Mease,Anthony S. Russell,Irwin Jon Russell,Brian Walitt +10 more
TL;DR: A (2016) revision to the 2010/2011 fibromyalgia criteria combines physician and questionnaire criteria, minimizes misclassification of regional pain disorders, and eliminates the previously confusing recommendation regarding diagnostic exclusions.
