Arsenic: toxicity, oxidative stress and human disease.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of antioxidant defence systems against arsenic toxicity is discussed, and the role role of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin E (α-tocopherol), curcumin, glutathione and antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase in their protective roles against arsenic-induced oxidative stress is also discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma on the Wheat Seedlings Vigor and on the Inactivation of Microorganisms on the Seeds Surface

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of cold atmospheric pressure plasma (CAPP) treatment on the germination, production of biomass, vigor of seedlings, uptake of water of wheat seeds (Triticum aestivum L. cv.Eva) were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma on Maize Seeds: Enhancement of Seedlings Growth and Surface Microorganisms Inactivation

TL;DR: In this paper, cold atmospheric pressure ambient air plasma generated by Diffuse Coplanar Surface Barrier Discharge (DCSBD) was investigated for inhibition of native microbiota and potentially dangerous pathogens (Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria alternata and Fusarium culmorum) on the maize surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Copper(II) salicylideneglycinate complexes as potential antimicrobial agents

TL;DR: In this article, the reaction of an ethanolic solution of N-salicylideneglycinatoaquacopper(II) hemihydrate with urea, pyridine, 2,4-dimethylpyridine and quinoline in an equimolar ratio resulted in solid products containing complexes of the type Cu(salgly)L with distorted square pyramidal coordination polyhedra.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kojic Acid and its Derivatives: History and Present State of Art

TL;DR: Kojic acid derivatives are promising compounds that might advantageously be used in human and/or veterinary medicine and also in preparation of new, even more biologically active preparations.
