Journal ArticleDOI
Calibration of two objective measures of physical activity for children
TL;DR: It is suggested that the two accelerometers can be used to distinguish differing levels of physical activity intensity as well as inactivity among children 5 to 8 years of age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of treating depression and low perceived social support on clinical events after myocardial infarction: the Enhancing Recovery in Coronary Heart Disease Patients (ENRICHD) Randomized Trial.
Lisa F. Berkman,James A. Blumenthal,Matthew M. Burg,Robert M. Carney,Diane J. Catellier,Marie J. Cowan,Susan M. Czajkowski,Robert F. DeBusk,James D. Hosking,Allan S. Jaffe,Peter G. Kaufmann,Pamela H. Mitchell,James E. Norman,Lynda H. Powell,James M. Raczynski,Neil Schneiderman +15 more
TL;DR: The intervention improved depression and social isolation, although the relative improvement in the psychosocial intervention group compared with the usual care group was less than expected due to substantial improvement in usual care patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary Heart Disease Prediction From Lipoprotein Cholesterol Levels, Triglycerides, Lipoprotein(a), Apolipoproteins A-I and B, and HDL Density Subfractions The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study
A. R. Sharrett,Christie M. Ballantyne,Sean Coady,Gerardo Heiss,Paul D. Sorlie,Diane J. Catellier,Wolfgang Patsch +6 more
TL;DR: Optimal LDL-C values are <100 mg/dL in both women and men, and LDL- C, HDL-C, TG, and Lp(a), without additional apolipoproteins or lipid subfractions, provide substantial CHD prediction, with much higher RR in women than men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Depression, Heart Rate Variability, and Acute Myocardial Infarction
Robert M. Carney,James A. Blumenthal,Phyllis K. Stein,Lana L. Watkins,Diane J. Catellier,Lisa F. Berkman,Susan M. Czajkowski,Christopher M. O'Connor,Peter Stone,Kenneth E. Freedland +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that greater autonomic dysfunction, as reflected by decreased HRV, is a plausible mechanism linking depression to increased cardiac mortality in post-MI patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accelerometer data reduction: a comparison of four reduction algorithms on select outcome variables.
Louise C. Mâsse,Bernard F. Fuemmeler,Cheryl B. Anderson,Charles E. Matthews,Stewart G. Trost,Diane J. Catellier,Margarita S. Treuth +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed decision rules used in the past to identify wearing period, minimal wear requirement for a valid day, spurious data, number of days used to calculate the outcome variables and extract bouts of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA).
