Further characterisation of the 91500 zircon crystal
Michael Wiedenbeck,John M. Hanchar,William H. Peck,Paul J. Sylvester,John W. Valley,Martin J. Whitehouse,Andreas Kronz,Yuichi Morishita,Lutz Nasdala,Jens Fiebig,Ian A. Franchi,J.-P. Girard,Richard C. Greenwood,R. W. Hinton,Noriko T. Kita,Paul R.D. Mason,Marc D. Norman,M. Ogasawara,Philip M. Piccoli,Dieter Rhede,Hisao Satoh,B. Schulz-Dobrick,Øyvind Skår,Mj. Spicuzza,Kentaro Terada,Andrew G. Tindle,Shigeko Togashi,Torsten Vennemann,Q. Xie,Yong-Fei Zheng +29 more
TL;DR: In this article, the results from a second characterisation of the 91500 zircon, including data from electron probe microanalysis, laser ablation inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), and laser fluorination analyses, were reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reference Minerals for the Microanalysis of Light Elements
M. Darby Dyar,Michael Wiedenbeck,David Robertson,Laura R. Cross,Jeremy S. Delaney,Kurt M. Ferguson,Carl A. Francis,Edward S. Grew,Charles V. Guidotti,Richard L. Hervig,John M. Hughes,John Husler,William P. Leeman,Anne V. McGuire,Dieter Rhede,Heike Rothe,Rick L. Paul,Ian J. Richards,Martin G. Yates +18 more
TL;DR: The first results from a suite of large, gem crystals which cover a broad spectrum of minerals in which light elements are major constituents using both in situ and wet chemical techniques were reported in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tourmaline B-isotopes fingerprint marine evaporites as the source of high-salinity ore fluids in iron oxide copper-gold deposits, Carajás Mineral Province (Brazil)
Roberto Perez Xavier,Michael Wiedenbeck,Robert B. Trumbull,Ana Maria Dreher,Lena Virgínia Soares Monteiro,Dieter Rhede,Carlos Eduardo Ganade de Araujo,Ignacio Torresi +7 more
TL;DR: The Carajas Mineral Province in northern Brazil contains a variety of world-class (>100 Mt ore) iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) deposits, including the only Archean examples of this deposit class (e.g., the Igarape Bahia/Alemao and Salobo deposits).
Journal ArticleDOI
Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy Study of Oxygen-18 Tracer Diffusion in 2/1-Mullite Single Crystals
Peter Fielitz,Günter Borchardt,Martin Schmücker,Hartmut Schneider,Michael Wiedenbeck,Dieter Rhede,S. Weber,S. Scherrer +7 more
TL;DR: O tracer diffusion in Czochralski-grown mullite single crystals is investigated along [010] and [001]. Oxygen diffusion coefficients range between ∼5 × 10−20 m2/s (1250°C) and ∼9 × 10 −18 m2 /s (1525°C), the data does not show any significant anisotropic.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-temperature memory in calcic amphiboles and constraints on compositional control of their 40Ar/39Ar ages
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied calcic amphiboles from an incompletely mixed magmatic rock association of mainly intermediate dioritic composition and showed that the amphibole grains consist of two different calcic hornblende varieties: (1) a Si- and Mg-rich variety and (2) a variety enriched in Al, Ti, Fe, K, and Na.
