Journal ArticleDOI

In vivo imaging of germinal centres reveals a dynamic open structure

TL;DR: The direct visualization of B cells in lymph node germinal centres by two-photon laser-scanning microscopy in mice concludes that the open structure of germineal centres enhances competition and ensures that rare high-affinity B cells can participate in antibody responses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stable T cell-dendritic cell interactions precede the development of both tolerance and immunity in vivo.

TL;DR: Early antigen-dependent T cell arrest on DCs is a shared feature of tolerance and priming associated with activation and proliferation in both tolerance and immunity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Th17 Response and Inflammatory Autoimmune Diseases

TL;DR: The biology of Th17 cells, their role in autoimmune disease development, and in AOSD in particular, are discussed, as well as the growing interest of the pharmaceutical industry in their use as therapeutic targets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peptide-MHC potency governs dynamic interactions between T cells and dendritic cells in lymph nodes.

TL;DR: It is found that regardless of potency, pMHC complexes induced upregulation of CD69, anergy and retention of T cells in lymph nodes, however, only high-potency pM HC complexes expressed by DCs induced calcium-dependent T cell deceleration and calcineurin-dependent anergy.
Journal ArticleDOI

CD8− DCs induce IL-12–independent Th1 differentiation through Delta 4 Notch-like ligand in response to bacterial LPS

TL;DR: The response of IL-12–deficient DCs to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is examined and it is found that LPS activates MyD88-dependent Delta 4 Notch-like ligand expression by CD8− DCs, and that these cells direct Th1 differentiation by an IL- 12–independent and notch-dependent mechanism in vitro and in vivo.
