TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the extent to which corporate governance attributes, ownership structure and company characteristics influence the extent of voluntary disclosure in a developing country, namely Kenya, and find that the presence of an audit committee is a significant factor associated with the level of disclosure.

Improving governance leads to improved corporate communication
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of corporate governance structure on voluntary disclosure practices of Malaysian listed firms from 1996 to 2001 was empirically examined, showing that the extent of voluntary communication is generally low, albeit showing an increase from 1996-2001.
