TL;DR: All fungal species represented by at least two ITS sequences in the international nucleotide sequence databases are now given a unique, stable name of the accession number type, and the term ‘species hypothesis’ (SH) is introduced for the taxa discovered in clustering on different similarity thresholds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urmas Kõljalg,Karl-Henrik Larsson,Kessy Abarenkov,R. Henrik Nilsson,Ian J. Alexander,Ursula Eberhardt,Susanne Erland,Klaus Høiland,Rasmus Kjøller,Ellen Larsson,Taina Pennanen,Robin Sen,Andy F. S. Taylor,Leho Tedersoo,Trude Vrålstad,Björn M. Ursing +15 more
TL;DR: The UNITE database, an open-access database dedicated to the reliable identification of ECM fungi, comprises well annotated fungal ITS sequences from well defined herbarium specimens that include full her barium reference identification data, collector/source and ecological data.
Journal ArticleDOI
One hundred and seventeen clades of euagarics
Jean-Marc Moncalvo,Rytas Vilgalys,Scott A. Redhead,James E. Johnson,Timothy Y. James,M. Catherine Aime,Valérie Hofstetter,Sebastiaan J.W Verduin,Sebastiaan J.W Verduin,Ellen Larsson,Timothy J. Baroni,R. Greg Thorn,Stig Jacobsson,Heinz Clémençon,Orson K. Miller +14 more
TL;DR: This study provides a first broad systematic treatment of the euagarics as they have recently emerged in phylogenetic systematics and recognizes eight major groups of homobasidiomycetes that cut across traditional lines of classification, in agreement with other recent phylogenetic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The phylogenetic distribution of resupinate forms across the major clades of mushroom-forming fungi (Homobasidiomycetes)
TL;DR: Phylogenetic relationships of resupinate Homobasidiomycetes (Corticiaceae s. lat. and others) were studied using ribosomal DNA sequences from a broad sample of res upinate and nonresupinate taxa to support monophyly of the eight major clades of Homob as well as independent lineages corresponding to the Gloeophyllum clade, corticioid clade and Jaapia argillacea.
