Influences of Built Environments on Walking and Cycling: Lessons from Bogotá

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined how road facility designs, like street density, connectivity, and proximity to Ciclovia lanes, are associated with physical activity, while other attributes of the built environment, like density and land-use mixtures, are not.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fasting and cognition in well- and undernourished schoolchildren: a review of three experimental studies.

TL;DR: The consequences of the overnight and morning fast, particularly among the children who were nutritionally at risk, included slower stimulus discrimination, increased errors, and slower memory recall and it is proposed that these alterations result from a state of metabolic stress in which homeostatic mechanisms work to maintain circulating glucose concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Ciclovía-Recreativa: A Mass-Recreational Program With Public Health Potential

TL;DR: Ciclovías have potential for positive public health outcomes, but evidence on their effectiveness is limited and the different stages of new and established programs offer a unique opportunity for transnational studies aimed at assessing their public health impact.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benefits of a School Breakfast Programme among Andean Children in Huaraz, Peru:

Journal ArticleDOI
