Journal ArticleDOI
A Herpesvirus Associated with Mass Mortality of Juvenile and Adult Koi, a Strain of Common Carp
Ronald P. Hedrick,Oren Gilad,Susan Yun,J. V. Spangenberg,Gary D. Marty,R. W. Nordhausen,M. J. Kebus,Herve Bercovier,Avi Eldar +8 more
TL;DR: It is strongly suspect that this newly recognized koi herpesvirus (KHV) has the potential to be a significant cause of mortality among koi and presumably common carp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ascites, premature emergence, increased gonadal cell apoptosis, and cytochrome P4501A induction in pink salmon larvae continuously exposed to oil-contaminated gravel during development
Gary D. Marty,David E. Hinton,Jeffrey W. Short,Ronald A. Heintz,Stanley D. Rice,Donna M. Dambach,Neil H. Willits,John J. Stegeman +7 more
TL;DR: Hydrocarbon analysis by gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy revealed that tissue uptake of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) was mediated by oil's dissolution in water, with significant biological effects when the peak total PAH concentration in water was as low as 4.4 μg/L.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of chronic chromium exposure on the health of Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha).
Aïda M. Farag,Thomas W. May,Gary D. Marty,Michael Easton,David D. Harper,Edward E. Little,Laverne Cleveland +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a study was designed to determine fish health impairment of juvenile Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) exposed to chromium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sublethal effects of the (Exxon Valdez) oil spill on herring embryos and larvae: morphological, cytogenetic, and histopathological assessments, 19891991
TL;DR: L'importance des degâts morphologiques et cytogenetiques a ete mise en correlation avec l'exposition au petrole chez des moules indigenes de the baie.
Journal ArticleDOI
Viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus, Ichthyophonus hoferi, and other causes of morbidity in Pacific herring Clupea pallasi spawning in Prince William Sound, Alaska, USA.
Gary D. Marty,Ellen F. Freiberg,Theodore R. Meyers,John Wilcock,Thomas B Farver,David E. Hinton +5 more
TL;DR: Prevalence of external gross lesions and major parasites was not related to fish age, and fish that were year-lings at the time of the 1989 'Exxon Valdez' oil spill had no evidence of increased disease prevalence.
