Kaslow,M. J. VanRaden,D. Seminara +55 more
TL;DR: There is no evidence that depressive symptoms independently prognosticate worse outcomes in HIV infection, and future studies of the relationship between depression and HIV outcome should consider these variables as confounders.

Changes in depressive symptoms as AIDS develops
Constantine G. Lyketsos,Donald R. Hoover,Marcella Guccione,Mary Amanda Dew,Jerry E. Wesch,Eric G. Bing,Glenn J. Treisman +6 more
TL;DR: There is a draniatic, sustained rise in depressive symptoms as AIDS develops, beginning as early as 18 months before clinical A IDS is diagmiosed, and prior depression, HI V-disease-related factors, and psychological stressors contribute to this rise.
Journal ArticleDOI
PTSD: a problematic diagnostic category.
Paul R. McHugh,Glenn J. Treisman +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the concept of PTSD has moved the mental health field away from, rather than towards a better understanding of the natural psychological responses to trauma, which would greatly benefit patient care, rehabilitative services to veterans, and epidemiologic research.
Book ChapterDOI
