The 500 Dalton rule for the skin penetration of chemical compounds and drugs
Jan D. Bos,M.M.H.M. Meinardi +1 more
TL;DR: For pharmaceutical development purposes, it seems logical to restrict the development of new innovative compounds to a MW of under 500 Dalton, when topical dermatological therapy or percutaneous systemic therapy or vaccination is the objective.
Journal Article
Evidence for compartmentalization of functional subsets of CD2+ T lymphocytes in atopic patients
Eddy A. Wierenga,Mieke Snoek,C.H. de Groot,I Chrétien,Jan D. Bos,Henk M. Jansen,Martien L. Kapsenberg +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that CD4+ T lymphocytes that produce IL-4, but not IFN-gamma, occur in high frequencies in the allergen-specific T cell repertoires of atopic donors, which may have important implications for the pathomechanism of atopy disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
European S3-guidelines on the systemic treatment of psoriasis vulgaris
D. Pathirana,Anthony Ormerod,Philippe Saiag,Catherine H. Smith,Ph.I. Spuls,Alexander Nast,Jonathan Barker,Jan D. Bos,GR Burmester,Sergio Chimenti,L Dubertret,Bernadette Eberlein,R. Erdmann,J. Thio,P.C.M. van de Kerkhof,B. Rzany +38 more
TL;DR: Phototherapy represents a safe and very effective treatment option for moderate to severe forms of psoriasis vulgaris and has a good cost-benefit ratio, but the potentially significant costs for, and time required of, the patient must be considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin-17 and interferon-gamma synergize in the enhancement of proinflammatory cytokine production by human keratinocytes.
TL;DR: It is indicated that IL-17 is a proinflammatory cytokine, which could amplify the development of cutaneous inflammation and may support the maintenance of chronic dermatoses, through stimulation of keratinocytes to augment their secretion of pro inflammatory cytokines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in cellular infiltrate and extracellular matrix of chronic diabetic and venous ulcers versus acute wounds
TL;DR: Data indicate that important differences exist in the cellular infiltrate and ECM expression patterns of acute, healing versus chronic wounds, which may be related to the nonhealing status of chronic wounds.
