Long‐term opioid management for chronic noncancer pain
Meredith Noble,Jonathan Treadwell,Stephen J. Tregear,Vivian Coates,Philip J Wiffen,Clarisse Akafomo,Karen M Schoelles,Roger Chou +7 more
TL;DR: Weak evidence suggests that patients who are able to continue opioids long-term experience clinically significant pain relief, and whether quality of life or functioning improves is inconclusive, due to an insufficient quantity of evidence for oral administration studies and inconclusive statistical findings for transdermal and intrathecal administration studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obstructive sleep apnea and risk of motor vehicle crash: systematic review and meta-analysis
TL;DR: A systematic review of the OSA-related risk of crash in commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers foundUntreated sleep apnea is a significant contributor to motor vehicle crashes.
Making health care safer II: an updated critical analysis of the evidence for patient safety practices.

TL;DR: The evidence supporting the effectiveness of many patient safety practices has improved substantially over the past decade, and evidence about implementation and context has also improved, but continues to lag behind evidence of effectiveness.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Top Patient Safety Strategies That Can Be Encouraged for Adoption Now

Miller,Duncan Neuhauser,Gery W. Ryan,Sanjay Saint,Stephen M. Shortell,David P. Stevens,Kieran Walshe +28 more
TL;DR: To improve patient safety the authors needed to identify hazards, determine how to measure them accurately, and identify solutions that work to reduce patient harm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term opioid therapy for chronic noncancer pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis of efficacy and safety.
TL;DR: It is concluded that many patients discontinue long-term opioid therapy due to adverse events or insufficient pain relief; however, weak evidence suggests that oral and intrathecal opioids reduce pain long- term in the relatively small proportion of individuals with CNCP who continue treatment.
