Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of cardiovascular risk factors from retinal fundus photographs via deep learning
Ryan Poplin,Avinash V. Varadarajan,Katy Blumer,Yun Liu,Michael V. McConnell,Greg S. Corrado,Lily Peng,Dale R. Webster +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used deep learning models trained on retinal fundus images to predict cardiovascular risk factors not previously thought to be present or quantifiable in retinal images.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Retinal Fundus Photographs using Deep Learning
Ryan Poplin,Avinash V. Varadarajan,Katy Blumer,Yun Liu,Michael V. McConnell,Greg S. Corrado,Lily Peng,Dale R. Webster +7 more
TL;DR: Deep learning predicts, from retinal images, cardiovascular risk factors—such as smoking status, blood pressure and age—not previously thought to be present or quantifiable in these images.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using a Deep Learning Algorithm and Integrated Gradients Explanation to Assist Grading for Diabetic Retinopathy.
Rory Sayres,Ankur Taly,Ehsan Rahimy,Katy Blumer,David Coz,Naama Hammel,Jonathan Krause,Arunachalam Narayanaswamy,Zahra Rastegar,Derek Wu,Shawn Xu,Scott Barb,Anthony Joseph,Michael Shumski,Jesse M. Smith,Arjun B. Sood,Greg S. Corrado,Lily Peng,Dale R. Webster +18 more
TL;DR: Deep learning algorithms can improve the accuracy of, and confidence in, DR diagnosis in an assisted read setting, and they also may increase grading time, although these effects may be ameliorated with experience.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of silver nanoparticles for the dual delivery of doxorubicin and alendronate to cancer cells
Farah Benyettou,Rachid Rezgui,Florent Ravaux,T. Jaber,Katy Blumer,Mustapha Jouiad,Laurence Motte,John-Carl Olsen,Carlos Platas-Iglesias,Mazin Magzoub,Ali Trabolsi +10 more
TL;DR: It is found that Dox-Ald@AgNPs had significantly greater anti-cancer activity in vitro than either Ald or Dox alone and can accommodate the attachment of other drugs as well as targeting agents and therefore constitute a general platform for drug delivery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep Learning for Predicting Refractive Error From Retinal Fundus Images
Avinash V. Varadarajan,Ryan Poplin,Katy Blumer,Christof Angermueller,Joseph R. Ledsam,Reena Chopra,Pearse A. Keane,Greg S. Corrado,Lily Peng,Dale R. Webster +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a deep learning algorithm was used to predict refractive error from retinal fundus images and validated it on 24,007 UK Biobank and 15,750 AREDS images.
