Journal ArticleDOI
Fabric-reinforced cementitious matrix: A promising strengthening technique for concrete structures
TL;DR: A critical review of existing research on structural strengthening with FRCM composites, identifies gaps in knowledge, and outlines directions for future research is presented in this article, where the authors present a detailed analysis of the current state of the art.
Journal ArticleDOI
In-plane and out-of-plane testing of unreinforced masonry walls strengthened using polymer textile reinforced mortar
Najif Ismail,Jason Ingham +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structural performance of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls strengthened using two different types of polymer textile reinforced mortar (TRM) was investigated in two series, with series 1 involving in-plane testing of two pier-spandrel assemblages representing part of a perforated URM wall and series 2 involving out-of-planar testing of three slender walls having no penetrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of process parameters on the performance of fly ash/GGBS blended geopolymer composites
Hilal El-Hassan,Najif Ismail +1 more
TL;DR: Alkali activation of fly ash and ground-granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) is a sustainable technology that promotes recycling of industrial by-products in the form of geopolymer composites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance of unreinforced and retrofitted masonry buildings during the 2010 darfield earthquake
TL;DR: In this article, a general overview of the failure patterns that were observed in unreinforced clay brick and stone masonry buildings in the Christchurch area after the 2010 Darfield earthquake is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagonal shear behaviour of unreinforced masonry wallettes strengthened using twisted steel bars
TL;DR: In this paper, the in-plane shear behaviour of URM wallettes strengthened using near surface mounted high strength twisted stainless steel reinforcement (TSNSM) was investigated and in particular, the effectiveness of the reinforcing schemes to restrain the diagonal cracking failure mode was studied.
