Multicenter Assessment of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer
Homayoun Zargar,Patrick Espiritu,Adrian Fairey,Adrian Fairey,Laura S. Mertens,Colin P.N. Dinney,Maria Carmen Mir,Laura Maria Krabbe,Michael S. Cookson,Niels Jacobsen,Nilay M. Gandhi,Joshua Griffin,Jeffrey S. Montgomery,Nikhil Vasdev,Evan Y. Yu,David Youssef,Evanguelos Xylinas,Nicholas J. Campain,Wassim Kassouf,Marc A. Dall'Era,Jo An Seah,Cesar E. TL;DR: Responses to NAC were lower than those reported in prospective randomized trials, and the best NAC regimen for invasive BCa remains to be determined, without any evidence from randomized prospective trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunotherapy for bladder cancer.
TL;DR: The clinical aspects of BCG are discussed, including its role in reducing recurrence and progression, the optimal treatment regime, toxicity and, in light of new evidence, whether or not there is a superior BCG strain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Robotic versus open radical cystectomy for bladder cancer in adults
Bhavan Prasad Rai,Jasper Bondad,Nikhil Vasdev,Jim Adshead,Tim Lane,Kamran Ahmed,Mohammed Shamim Khan,Prokar Dasgupta,Khurshid A. Guru,Piotr Chlosta,Omar M. Aboumarzouk +10 more
TL;DR: The results confirmed that robotic-assisted radical cystectomy in adults with bladder cancer results in less blood loss, shorter convalescence, and fewer complications with equivalent short-term oncological and functional outcomes; however, uncertainty remains as to the magnitude of these benefits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urinary biomarkers in bladder cancer: A review of the current landscape and future directions.
TL;DR: The development of laboratory techniques and understanding urine-based biomarkers in BC has fuelled the use of noninvasive liquid- based biomarkers to complement urine cytology, but none are sufficiently effective when used in isolation, and cytology remains the gold standard in many practices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Final Pathological Stage after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy and Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer—Does pT0 Predict Better Survival than pTa/Tis/T1?
Homayoun Zargar,Kamran Zargar-Shoshtari,Yair Lotan,Jay B. Shah,Bas W.G. van Rhijn,Siamak Daneshmand,Philippe E. Spiess,Peter C. Black,Adrian Fairey,Laura S. Mertens,Simon Horenblas,Colin P.N. Dall'Era,Jo An Seah,Srikala S. Sridhar,Pranav Sharma,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Scott North,Petros Grivas,Nilay Gandhi,Trinity J. Bivalacqua +41 more
TL;DR: In this article, a multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression model for overall survival was generated to evaluate hazard ratios for variables of interest, with a particular focus on the difference between the absence of residual cancer (pT0) and the presence of only nonmuscle invasive residual cancer.
