Journal ArticleDOI
Mnemonic coding of visual space in the monkey's dorsolateral prefrontal cortex
TL;DR: An oculomotor delayed-response task was used to examine the spatial memory functions of neurons in primate prefrontal cortex and found that inhibitory responses were usually strongest for, or centered about, cue directions roughly opposite those optimal for excitatory responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular basis of working memory
TL;DR: The special nature of working memory was first identified in studies of human cognition, and modern neurobiological methods have identified a specific population of neurons, patterns of their intrinsic and extrinsic circuitry, and signaling molecules that are engaged in this process in animals.
OtherDOI
Circuitry of Primate Prefrontal Cortex and Regulation of Behavior by Representational Memory
TL;DR: The sections in this article are: Essence of Prefrontal Function: Regulation of Behavior by Representational Knowledge, Multiple Subsystems of Pre Frontal Cortex: Unity or Diversity of Function, and Functional Speculations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preface: Cerebral Cortex Has Come of Age
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of memory fields by dopamine D1 receptors in prefrontal cortex.
TL;DR: The precision shown for D1 receptor modulation of mnemonic processing indicates a direct gating of selective excitatory synaptic inputs to prefrontal neurons during cognition.
