Journal ArticleDOI

FANMOD: a tool for fast network motif detection

TL;DR: FANMOD relies on recently developed algorithms to improve the efficiency of network motif detection by some orders of magnitude over existing tools, which facilitates the detection of larger motifs in bigger networks than previously possible.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient Detection of Network Motifs

TL;DR: Experiments on a testbed of biological networks show the new algorithms to be orders of magnitude faster than previous approaches, allowing for the detection of larger motifs in bigger networks than previously possible and thus facilitating deeper insight into the field.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compression-based fixed-parameter algorithms for feedback vertex set and edge bipartization

TL;DR: It is shown that the NP-complete Feedback Vertex Set problem, which asks for the smallest set of vertices to remove from a graph to destroy all cycles, is deterministically solvable in O(c^[email protected]?m) time.
Book ChapterDOI

A faster algorithm for detecting network motifs

TL;DR: This work presents a new algorithm for network motif detection which is orders of magnitude faster than previous approaches, allowing for the detection of larger motifs in bigger networks than was previously possible, facilitating deeper insight into the field.
Journal ArticleDOI

Parameterized Complexity of Vertex Cover Variants

TL;DR: It is shown that, with the size of the desired vertex cover as the parameter, CONNECTED VERTEX COVER and CAPACITATED VERT EX COVER are both fixed-parameter tractable while MAXIMUM PARTIAL VERTex COVER is W[1]-complete.
