Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison between carotid-femoral and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity as measures of arterial stiffness.

TL;DR: It is indicated that cfPWV and baPWVs are indices of arterial stiffness that exhibit similar extent of associations with cardiovascular disease risk factors and clinical events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diabetes Mellitus, Aortic Stiffness, and Cardiovascular Mortality in End-Stage Renal Disease

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the increased aortic stiffness of the ESRD patients with diabetes mellitus contributed to the higher all-cause and cardiovascular mortality rates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Homeostasis model assessment as a clinical index of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic patients treated with sulfonylureas.

TL;DR: The HOMA IR strongly correlated with the clamp IR in type 2 diabetic patients treated with SUs as well as in those treated with diet alone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lower risk for cardiovascular mortality in oral 1α-hydroxy vitamin D3 users in a haemodialysis population

TL;DR: The results indicate that use of oral alfacalcidol was associated with reduced risk for cardiovascular death in this cohort of ESRD patients, and warrants further randomized controlled trials with 1alpha-hydroxy vitamin D3 to confirm the possibility that such medication improves survival of E SRD patients.
