Journal ArticleDOI

A new approach for fabricating crack-free, flattened bamboo board and the study of its macro-/micro-properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a method is demonstrated that can flatten bamboo culms by high-pressure saturated steam (180°C/6min) under a compression force of 8-10 MPa by two rollers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bamboo flattening technology ebables efficient and value-added utilization of bamboo in the manufacture of furniture and engineered composites

TL;DR: In this article , the effects of three types of flattening technologies on the macro-mechanical, macro-physical, micro-morphology, and micro-physical properties of untreated, flattened bamboo samples were compared.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-scale evaluation of the effect of saturated steam on the micromechanical properties of Moso bamboo

TL;DR: In this paper, the changes in chemical composition and micro-mechanical properties of Moso Bamboo fiber cells were evaluated by applying saturated steam heat treatment at 160, 170, and 180 °C for periods of 4, 6, and 8 min.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of One-Step Hot Oil Treatment on the Physical, Mechanical, and Surface Properties of Bamboo Scrimber.

TL;DR: The contact angle test and swelling properties test showed that the hot oil treatment improved the dimensional stability and reduced the wettability on the surface of the bamboo scrimber.
