TL;DR: The proof-of-concept combining two commercial In-Phase/Quadrature modulators with two prototype polymer circuits, which integrate three tunable lasers for flexible wavelength allocation, four thermo-optic switches for flexible optical routing on-chip, and elements for polarization handling on- chip is demonstrated.
Abstract: We propose a novel multi-flow transmitter concept capable of controlling the number, type, wavelength, and destination of the generated optical flows depending on the client traffic. The concept is based on the selection of the number of optical carriers per flow and the selection between single- and dual-polarization flows. We demonstrate the proof-of-concept combining two commercial In-Phase/Quadrature (IQ) modulators with two prototype polymer circuits, which integrate three tunable lasers for flexible wavelength allocation, four thermo-optic switches for flexible optical routing on-chip, and elements for polarization handling on-chip. We incorporate this transmitter inside an optical node, and we investigate one-flow scenarios with dual-carrier or dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation, and two-flow scenarios based on two independent QPSK signals. The transmitter and node configuration are controlled by a software-defined optics platform. We demonstrate dynamic operation at 28 GBd and error-free coherent transmission over 100 km of the standard single-mode fiber.

Abstract: In his Perspective “Toward a green Internet” (29 March, p. [1533][1]), D. Reforgiato Recupero reflects (partially) some of the ideas and even the wording of the ECONET project's Description of Work (DoW) ([ 1 ][2]), first published on 6 September 2010. However, the general philosophy of the

21 Nov 2003TL;DR: In this article, a method for simulating a telecommunications network through objects that model a respective set of network modules or devices provides for the insertion of at least one respective interfacing object with the other modules of the set.
Abstract: A method for simulating a telecommunications network through objects that model a respective set of network modules or devices provides for the insertion, for every module or device of the set, of at least one respective interfacing object with the other modules of the set. The above interfacing object has an external side and an internal side with respect to the module or device. Such external side has a character that is independent of idiosyncrasies of such module or device and is therefore uniform for all modules or devices. When there are a plurality of different implementations of the same module or device, it is possible to provide both a unique interfacing object for all different implementations, and a respective interfacing object for every single implementation.

TL;DR: This work shows that coordination of a cluster of nodes can be formulated as an optimization problem, i.e., placing the Resource Blocks in each node's subframe with the least possible overlapping with neighboring nodes, and shows that optimal CS allows a significant protection of cell-edge users.

02 Jul 2007TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method for operating a node of a communication network comprising a plurality of peer-to-peer nodes, the node being linked with predetermined neighbour nodes among said plurality of P2P nodes, and the method comprising: a) storing, on a first storage area, node information indicative of predetermined data required by the node to become an information provider node; b) waiting to receive from at least one information provider nodes of the neighbour nodes describing information of data that can be provided by said information provider.
