Passivation behavior and surface chemistry of 2507 super duplex stainless steel in artificial seawater: Influence of dissolved oxygen and pH
Zhongyu Cui,Chen Shuangshuai,Yunpeng Dou,Sike Han,Liwei Wang,Cheng Man,Xin Wang,Shougang Chen,Y. Frank Cheng,Y. Frank Cheng,Xiaogang Li +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the passivation and film chemistry of 2507 super duplex stainless steel in modified artificial seawater (ASW) and found that passive film becomes denser from pre-passivation to passivation region and pores form accompanied with the increase of oxidized Fe after transpassivation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Study of the characteristics of duplex stainless steel activated tungsten inert gas welds
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of specific fluxes used in the tungsten inert gas (TIG) process on surface appearance, weld morphology, angular distortion, mechanical properties, and microstructures when welding 6mm thick duplex stainless steel were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen loss and effects on microstructure in multipass TIG welding of a super duplex stainless steel
TL;DR: In this paper, a super duplex stainless steel was autogenously TIG-welded with one to four bead-on-plate passes with low or high heat inputs using pure argon shielding gas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erosion–corrosion behaviour of lean duplex stainless steels in 3.5% NaCl solution
TL;DR: In this article, the erosion-corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steels was studied in an aerated 3.5% NaCl environment. And the results showed that these alloys have higher resistance to pure erosion than an austenitic stainless steel, UNS S30403 and a duplex Stainless Steel (S32205), and better erosion-CORROSION resistance than AU stainless steel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Heat Input on Microstructure, Corrosion and Mechanical Characteristics of Welded Austenitic and Duplex Stainless Steels: A Review
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of input heat of different welding processes on the microstructure, corrosion, and mechanical characteristics of welded duplex stainless steel (DSS) are reviewed.

Duplex — A new generation of stainless steels for desalination plants
Jan Olsson,Malin Snis +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe duplex stainless steels in technical terms and give reasons why they are such good alternatives to traditional austenitic grades of the 300-series for the construction of desalination plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microstructural transformations of heat affected zones in duplex steel welded joints
Jerzy Nowacki,Aleksander Łukojc +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the welding thermal conditions exemplified by heat input and heat treatment after welding on the structure of the heat affected zone (HAZ) UNS S31803 has been analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Initial phase transformation diagram determination for the CD3MN cast duplex stainless steel
TL;DR: In this article, a time-temperature-transformation diagram for cast CD3MN, a duplex stainless steel, was developed for 1 to 1000 min. Initial sigma phase precipitation was noted as low as 700 °C, with the nose of the transformation curve at approximately 800 °C and 100 min.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and properties of the heat-affected zone of duplex steels welded joints
Jerzy Nowacki,A. Łukojć +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the secondary austenite was created as a product of ferrite decomposition α −→γ 2 as an effect of the welding thermal cycle and an aging following the welding process.
