GALSIM: The modular galaxy image simulation toolkit

TLDR
The performance of GALSIM meets the stringent requirements of high precision image analysis applications such as weak gravitational lensing, fo r current datasets and for the Stage IV dark energy surveys of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, ESA's Euclid mission, and NASA’s WFIRST-AFTAmission.

LSST: from Science Drivers to Reference Design and Anticipated Data Products

Željko Ivezić, +312 more
- 15 May 2008 -
TL;DR: The LSST design is driven by four main science themes: probing dark energy and dark matter, taking an inventory of the solar system, exploring the transient optical sky, and mapping the Milky Way.
Journal ArticleDOI

LSST: From Science Drivers to Reference Design and Anticipated Data Products

Željko Ivezić, +335 more
TL;DR: The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) as discussed by the authors is a large, wide-field ground-based system designed to obtain repeated images covering the sky visible from Cerro Pachon in northern Chile.

Cosmology with cosmic shear observations: a review

TL;DR: An outlook on the various future surveys and missions, for which cosmic shear is one of the main science drivers, and discuss promising new weak cosmological lensing techniques for future observations are discussed.

The Structure of cold dark matter halos

TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution N-body simulations show that the density profiles of dark matter halos formed in the standard CDM cosmogony can be fit accurately by scaling a simple universal profile.

The Seventh Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey

Kevork N. Abazajian, +223 more
TL;DR: A series of improvements to the spectroscopic reductions are described, including better flat fielding and improved wavelength calibration at the blue end, better processing of objects with extremely strong narrow emission lines, and an improved determination of stellar metallicities.

The Design and Implementation of FFTW3

TL;DR: It is shown that such an approach can yield an implementation of the discrete Fourier transform that is competitive with hand-optimized libraries, and the software structure that makes the current FFTW3 version flexible and adaptive is described.
