The aetiology, diagnosis and management of NMSC are reviewed and metastasis from high-risk SCC may be fatal.Abstract:
Nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) represents the most common form of cancer in Caucasians, with continuing increase in incidence worldwide. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) accounts for 75% of cases of NMSC, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) accounts for the remaining majority of NMSC cases. Whilst metastasis from BCC is extremely rare, metastasis from high-risk SCC may be fatal. In this article, we review the aetiology, diagnosis and management of NMSC.read more

Non-melanoma skin cancer incidence and impact of skin cancer screening on incidence
Nora Eisemann,Annika Waldmann,Alan C. Geller,Martin A. Weinstock,Martin A. Weinstock,Martin A. Weinstock,Beate Volkmer,Ruediger Greinert,Eckhard W. Breitbart,Alexander Katalinic +9 more
TL;DR: The impact of screening on NMSC incidence in Schleswig-Holstein is analyzed by comparing four time periods of different screening settings to a reference region (Saarland, Germany) to provide up-to-date incidence estimates by sex, age group, histological type, and body site.

TL;DR: In the absence of reliable tumor-based rates, these alarming patient-based BCC incidence rates are probably an interesting indicator for the impact of more intensive UV exposure in a prosperous European population.

The global burden of skin cancer: A longitudinal analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study, 1990-2017.
TL;DR: The incidence, prevalence, and DALYs of skin cancers are increasing disproportionately among different demographic groups, and the GBD 2017 provides frequently updated measures of the skin cancer burden, which may help to direct resources and allocate funding to close the gap in global skin cancer disparities.
