This paper reviews the passive optical network (PON) systems market and the services that will drive the take-up of these next-generation PON technologies. The drivers for future PON evolution are discussed, and some technology options for the evolution of PON systems are highlighted.read more

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the transmission performance of 28-Gb/s nonreturn-to-zero on-off keying (NRZ-OOK), duobinary, and four-level pulse amplitude modulation signals over different fiber lengths without any inline amplification or pre/post-processing digital signal processing technique by utilizing an O-band 18G-class directly modulated laser (DML).
