Journal ArticleDOI
Aspiration thrombectomy versus stent retriever thrombectomy as first-line approach for large vessel occlusion (COMPASS): a multicentre, randomised, open label, blinded outcome, non-inferiority trial
Aquilla S Turk,Adnan H. Siddiqui,Johanna T Fifi,Reade De Leacy,David Fiorella,Eugene Gu,Elad I. Levy,Kenneth V. Snyder,Ricardo A. Hanel,Amin Aghaebrahim,B Keith Woodward,Harry R Hixson,M Chaudry,Alejandro M Spiotta,Ansaar T Rai,Donald Frei,Josser E Delgado Almandoz,Michael Kelly,Adam S Arthur,Blaise Baxter,Joey English,Italo Linfante,Kyle M Fargen,J Mocco +23 more
TL;DR: This study supports the use of direct aspiration as an alternative to stent retriever as first-line therapy for stroke thrombectomy and assesses whether patients treated with aspiration as first pass have non-inferior functional outcomes to those treated with a stent retrievers as first line.
Journal ArticleDOI
The safety and effectiveness of the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) system for the treatment of wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms: final 12-month results of the pivotal WEB Intrasaccular Therapy (WEB-IT) Study.
Adam S Arthur,Andy Molyneux,Alexander L. Coon,Isil Saatci,István Szikora,Feyyaz Baltacioglu,Ali Sultan,Daniel Hoit,Josser E Delgado Almandoz,Lucas Elijovich,Saru Cekirge,James V. Byrne,David Fiorella +12 more
TL;DR: The results of this trial suggest that the WEB device provides an option for patients with wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms that is as effective as currently available therapies and markedly safer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distal aspiration with retrievable stent assisted thrombectomy for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke
William Humphries,Daniel Hoit,Vinodh T Doss,Lucas Elijovich,Donald Frei,David Loy,Gwen Dooley,Aquilla S Turk,Imran Chaudry,Raymond D Turner,J Mocco,Peter J. Morone,David A Fiorella,Adnan H. Siddiqui,Maxim Mokin,Adam S Arthur +15 more
TL;DR: Mechanical thrombectomy utilizing combined manual aspiration with a stent retriever is an effective and safe strategy for endovascular recanalization of large vessel occlusions presenting within the context of AIS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monoclonal Antibodies Against ICAM-1 and CD18 Attenuate Cerebral Vasospasm After Experimental Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in Rabbits
TL;DR: These findings provide the first evidence that the severity of cerebral vasospasm can be attenuated using monoclonal antibodies against ICAM-1 and CD18, and suggest that therapeutic targeting of cellular adhesion molecules can be of benefit in treating cerebral Vasospasm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood pressure levels post mechanical thrombectomy and outcomes in large vessel occlusion strokes.
Nitin Goyal,Georgios Tsivgoulis,Abhi Pandhi,Jason J. Chang,Kira Dillard,Muhammad Ishfaq,Katherine Nearing,Asim F. Choudhri,Daniel Hoit,Anne W. Alexandrov,Adam S Arthur,Lucas Elijovich,Andrei V. Alexandrov +12 more
TL;DR: High maximum SBP levels following MT are independently associated with increased likelihood of 3-month mortality and functional dependence in LVO patients and moderate BP control is also related to lower odds of 3,month mortality in comparison to permissive hypertension.
