Digital devices like tablets, smart phones, and laptop have become increasingly raised and utilised in higher education. As a result, current trends on ICT (information and communication technology) used in education begin widely with focusing on teaching and learning. The new concept of big data in recent ICT domain extends the promising research direction on online learning and big data integration through promising content that can be tailored for each student based on the context and Internet behaviour of users in online learning. This paper aims to explore innovative design for innovative online learning in Higher education using Big Data approach. Critical review from referred journals and books was conducted using thematic analysis. This paper proposes model reference which can be implemented with the technology in teaching and learning to improve student learning environment and outcomes and to enhance students’ development, performance and achievement in learning process in higher education.

Big data emerging technology: Insights into innovative environment for online learning resources

This paper presents learning analytics as a mean to improve students’ learning. Most learning analytics tools are developed by in-house individual educational institutions to meet the specific needs of their students. Learning analytics is defined as a way to measure, collect, analyse and report data about learners and their context, for the purpose of understanding and optimizing learning. The paper concludes by highlighting framework of learning analytics in order to improve personalised learning. In addition, it is an endeavour to define the characterising features that represents the relationship between learning analytics and personalised learning environment. The paper proposes that learning analytics is dependent on personalised approach for both educators and students. From a learning perspective, students can be supported with specific learning process and reflection visualisation that compares their respective performances to the overall performance of a course. Furthermore, the learners may be provided with personalised recommendations for suitable learning resources, learning paths, or peer students through recommending system. Demystifying Learning Analytics in Personalised Learning

The emergence of digital technology development such as smart phones, tablets and iPad has been widely raised to utilise among the society at large and particularly in the higher education (HE) context. The massive amounts of data can be enhanced to provide the content transformed into the integration of online learning. This study attempts to elucidate the design of innovative learning in big data approach. The review of literature was conducted from referred journals by the keywords of innovative learning environment (ILE) and big data. The findings reveal that big data approach in ILE entire initiative has potentially to improve students’ learning process mainly in online resources. In terms of the extent to propose the design of innovative learning basis in big data analytic process, the model reference of virtual learning approach is expected to contribute in expanding the extent of pedagogy and technology skill to support the initiative way of teaching and learning process in the HE context.

In the last decade, the emergence of violence has been since visible among the youth in school and even in higher education (HE). The number is various forms such as bullying, cyber bullying and even bullying victimization. It can be seen that forms of instance reported are many violence which refers to the perpetration among the school aged students. This paper aims to examine the problems on violence at any forms to propose a model to solve the knowledge set of compassionate based empathy. The findings reveal that the series of feeling mindful of self and social empathy should be developed to enhance the awareness with the ability to interact and care among HE. Nurturing Compassion-Based Empathy: Innovative Approach in Higher Education

There emerge the issues on how the process of teaching and learning should be implemented in the way that ethical consideration becomes entirely a main concern to enhance the personality with admirable attitude. There has been lack of scholarly attention to elaborate the philosophical inquiry into the foundational stage especially referring to Muslim scholarly work. This research aims to investigate the philosophical inquiry of Al-Zarnuji’s ideas in his concept of Ta’lim al-Muta’allim. This work serves as a source of guidance for Islamic education because it presents fascinating theories on teaching and learning. Literature review was conducted to examine the conceptual framework to the contemporary perspective. The findings reveal ethical engagement which al-Zarnuji concerns refers to strengthening the process of learning and teaching. This becomes central to drive the process itself into the enhancement to the target supposed in the way that there is no separated form in the process of transfer both knowledge and value.
