An operational ocean forecast system incorporating NEMO and SST data assimilation for the tidally driven European North-West shelf
Enda O'Dea,Alex Arnold,K. P. Edwards,R Furner,Patrick Hyder,Matthew Martin,John Siddorn,D. Storkey,James While,Jason Holt,Hedong Liu +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new operational ocean forecast system, the Atlantic Margin Model implementation of the Forecast Ocean Assimilation Model (FOAM-AMM), has been developed for the European North West Shelf (NWS).
Journal ArticleDOI
AMM15: a new high-resolution NEMO configuration for operational simulation of the European north-west shelf
Jennifer A. Graham,Jennifer A. Graham,Enda O'Dea,Jason Holt,Jeff A. Polton,Helene T. Hewitt,R Furner,Karen Guihou,Ashley Brereton,Alex Arnold,Sarah Wakelin,Juan Manuel Castillo Sanchez,C. Gabriela Mayorga Adame +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Atlantic Margin Model (AMM15) is introduced as a new regional configuration of NEMO v3.6, with modifications appropriate for the new high-resolution domain.
Journal ArticleDOI
The UKC2 regional coupled environmental prediction system
Huw Lewis,Juan Manuel Castillo Sanchez,Jennifer A. Graham,Andrew Saulter,Jorge Bornemann,Alex Arnold,Joachim Fallmann,Chris Harris,David Pearson,Steven Ramsdale,Alberto Martínez-de la Torre,Lucy Bricheno,Eleanor Blyth,Victoria A. Bell,Helen Davies,Toby R. Marthews,Clare K. O’Neill,Heather Rumbold,Enda O'Dea,Ashley Brereton,Karen Guihou,Adrian Hines,Momme Butenschön,Simon Dadson,Tamzin Palmer,Jason Holt,Nick Reynard,Martin Best,John M. Edwards,John Siddorn +29 more
TL;DR: The UKC2 regional coupled prediction system as discussed by the authors was developed under the UK Environmental Prediction Prototype project (UKEPCP) and is the first implementation of an atmosphere-land-ocean-wave modelling system focussed on the United Kingdom and surrounding seas at km-scale resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
The UKC3 regional coupled environmental prediction system
Huw Lewis,Juan Manuel Castillo Sanchez,Alex Arnold,Joachim Fallmann,Joachim Fallmann,Andrew Saulter,Jennifer A. Graham,Jennifer A. Graham,Mike Bush,John Siddorn,Tamzin Palmer,Adrian Lock,John M. Edwards,Lucy Bricheno,Alberto Martínez-de la Torre,James R. Clark +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe an updated configuration of the regional coupled research system, termed UKC3, developed and evaluated under the UK Environmental Prediction collaboration, which represents a further step toward a vision of simulating the numerous interactions and feedbacks between different physical and biogeochemical components of the environment across sky, sea and land using more integrated regional coupled prediction at kilometre-scale resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of sea surface temperature on stratiform cloud formation over the North Sea
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a numerical simulation assessing the effect of dynamical ocean-atmosphere coupling on the structure of the marine atmospheric boundary layer over the southern North Sea.
