Journal ArticleDOI

A Review on Designing the Waterproof Breathable Fabrics Part I: Fundamental Principles and Designing Aspects of Breathable Fabrics:

TL;DR: In this article, the basic principles and techniques involved in designing waterproof breathability fabrics are described, which can be categorized as close-to-nothing fabrics and close-but-not-too-close fabrics.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Review on Designing the Waterproof Breathable Fabrics Part II: Construction and Suitability of Breathable Fabrics for Different Uses:

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe engineering design of waterproof breathability fabrics specifically designed for leisure, medial uses and survival clothing, and describe how they can be used in many applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of structural variations in hollow yarn on heat and moisture transport properties of fabrics

TL;DR: In this paper, three types of hollow cotton yarn fabrics, produced by introducing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) filament in the core, PVA staple fibres in the blend and PVA filament in doubling with cotton spun yarn, are studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of laundering on the seam tensile properties of suiting fabric

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of laundering on seam tensile properties with the variation of stitch density, linear density of sewing threads and composition of base material was investigated and it was shown that the effect on seam strength, seam efficiency and strain at break is greater for coarser thread.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on the Changes in Tensile Properties of Sewing Thread at Different Sewing Stages

TL;DR: In this paper, the tensile properties of needle thread are measured at four sewing stages: before sewing, after dynamic loading at the tension regulator, after passage through the needle and fabric, and after bobbin thread interaction.
