Journal ArticleDOI
Sevoflurane based anaesthesia does not affect already impaired cerebral autoregulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
N. H. Sperna Weiland,Jeroen Hermanides,B.J.P. van der Ster,M. W. Hollmann,Benedikt Preckel,Wim J. Stok,J. J. van Lieshout,J. J. van Lieshout,Rogier V. Immink +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that sevoflurane‐based anaesthesia does not contribute to a ‘double‐hit’ phenomenon on cerebral perfusion and, in controls and diabetic patients, CA was unaffected by sev ofl Lurane‐ based anaesthesia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physiological levels of glutamine prevent morphine-induced preconditioning in the isolated rat heart.
Andre Heinen,Ragnar Huhn,Markus W. Hollmann,Benedikt Preckel,Coert J. Zuurbier,Wolfgang Schlack,Jan Frässdorf,Nina C. Weber +7 more
TL;DR: Cardioprotection by morphine-induced preconditioning is model dependent: in the isolated rat heart, morphine preconditionsing is prevented by a glutamine containing perfusate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helium inhalation induces caveolin secretion to blood
Nina C. Weber,Jan M. Schilling,J. Cameron Finley,Megan Irvine,Sarah E Kellerhals,Ingrid R. Niesman,David M. Roth,Benedikt Preckel,Markus W. Hollmann,Hemal H. Patel +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of electroacupuncture on sedation requirements during colonoscopy: a prospective placebo-controlled randomised trial.
Susanne Eberl,Nelson Monteiro de Olivera,Danielle Bourne,Konrad Streitberger,Paul Fockens,Markus W. Hollmann,Benedikt Preckel +6 more
TL;DR: For colonoscopy, the applied mode of EA did not show any propofol-sparing sedative effect compared with sham or placebo acupuncture, and there was no significant difference in the number of cardiorespiratory events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Helium ventilation for treatment of post-cardiac arrest syndrome: A safety and feasibility study
Daniel Brevoord,Charlotte J. P. Beurskens,Walter M. van den Bergh,Walter M. van den Bergh,Wim K. Lagrand,Nicole P. Juffermans,Jan M. Binnekade,Benedikt Preckel,Janneke Horn +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that helium ventilation is feasible and can be used safely in patients treated with hypothermia after cardiac arrest, and sixteen patients had a favourable neurological outcome.
