TL;DR: Enteral probiotics such as Lactobacillus casei GG may bind to specific receptor sites on the enterocyte and stimulate the up-regulation of MUC-2, resulting in increased inhibition of BT.

Effect of probiotics on enterocyte bacterial translocation in vitro

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the probiotic bacterium LGG inhibits BT of E. coli C25 in a dose-dependent manner in an in-vitro cell-culture model and should be valuable in investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the inhibition of pathological enteral bacteria by probiotic agents.

TL;DR: The effects of phospholipids other than PC and common FFA on intestinal epithelial permeability and BT appear to have no effect to stimulate BT, which may have clinical implications in the pathogenesis and treatment strategies for IBD patients in whom enterocyte PLA2 activity has been shown to be elevated.
