An Unstructured Grid, Finite-Volume, Three-Dimensional, Primitive Equations Ocean Model: Application to Coastal Ocean and Estuaries
TL;DR: An unstructured grid, finite-volume, three-dimensional (3D) primitive equation ocean model has been developed for the study of coastal oceanic and estuarine circulation as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Unstructured Grid, Finite-Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM) System
Journal ArticleDOI
A finite volume numerical approach for coastal ocean circulation studies: Comparisons with finite difference models
Changsheng Chen,Changsheng Chen,Changsheng Chen,Haosheng Huang,Robert C. Beardsley,Hedong Liu,Qichun Xu,Geoffrey W. Cowles +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Chen et al. developed an unstructured grid, finite volume, three-dimensional (3D) primitive equation coastal ocean model (FVCOM) for the study of coastal ocean and estuarine circulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the Recurrent Ulva prolifera Blooms in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea
Chuanmin Hu,Daqiu Li,Changsheng Chen,Jianzhong Ge,Frank E. Muller-Karger,Junpeng Liu,Feng Yu,Ming-Xia He +7 more
TL;DR: Using a novel index (Floating Algae Index) and multiresolution remote sensing data from MODIS and Landsat, Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that Ulva prolifera patches appeared nearly every year between April and July 2000-2009 in the YS and/or East China Sea (ECS), which all originated from the nearshore Subei Bank.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical mechanisms for the offshore detachment of the Changjiang Diluted Water in the East China Sea
Changsheng Chen,Changsheng Chen,Pengfei Xue,Pingxing Ding,Robert C. Beardsley,Qichun Xu,Xianmou Mao,Guoping Gao,Guoping Gao,Jianhua Qi,Chunyan Li,Huichan Lin,Geoffrey W. Cowles,Maochong Shi +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the physical mechanisms for the summertime offshore detachment of the Changjiang Diluted Water (CDW) into the East China Sea using the high-resolution, unstructured-grid, Finite-Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM).
