Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity Arrays Technology (DArT) and next-generation sequencing combined: genome-wide, high throughput, highly informative genotyping for molecular breeding of Eucalyptus
Carolina Sansaloni,Cesar Petroli,Damian Jaccoud,Jason Carling,Frank Detering,Dario Grattapaglia,Dario Grattapaglia,Andrzej Kilian +7 more
TL;DR: The power of the now well established DArT marker platform in combination with Illumina short read sequencing to generate a linkage map for a segregating outcrossed F1 population derived from E. grandis BRASUZ1, the donor of the Eucalyptus reference genome is assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide delineation of natural variation for pod shatter resistance in Brassica napus
Harsh Raman,Rosy Raman,Andrzej Kilian,Frank Detering,Jason Carling,Neil Coombes,Simon Diffey,Gururaj Kadkol,David Edwards,Margaret E. McCully,Pradeep Ruperao,Isobel A. P. Parkin,Jacqueline Batley,David Luckett,Neil Wratten +14 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that genetic diversity for shatter resistance genes in B. napus is limited; breeders will need to target the introduction of useful alleles especially from genotypes of other related species of Brassica, such as those that have been identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
A consensus map of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) based on diversity array technology markers: applications in genetic dissection of qualitative and quantitative traits.
Harsh Raman,Rosy Raman,Andrzej Kilian,Frank Detering,Yan Long,David Edwards,Isobel A. P. Parkin,Andrew G. Sharpe,Matthew N. Nelson,Nick Larkan,Jun Zou,Jinling Meng,M. Naveed Aslam,Jacqueline Batley,Wallace Cowling,Derek J. Lydiate +15 more
TL;DR: This consensus map can be used to integrate new generation markers such as SNP arrays and next generation sequencing data; anchor physical maps to facilitate assembly of B. napus genome sequences; and identify candidate genes underlying natural genetic variation for traits of interest.
Journal ArticleDOI
A reference linkage map for Eucalyptus
Corey J. Hudson,Jules S. Freeman,Jules S. Freeman,Anand Raj Kumar Kullan,Cesar Petroli,Carolina Sansaloni,Andrzej Kilian,Frank Detering,Dario Grattapaglia,Dario Grattapaglia,Brad M. Potts,Alexander Andrew Myburg,René E. Vaillancourt +12 more
TL;DR: The composite map represents the most saturated linkage map yet produced in Eucalyptus and provides a direct link to the E. grandis genome sequence and will serve as an important reference for progressing eucalyPT research.
Diversity arrays technology (DArT) and statistical tools for genome profile-based molecular breeding of sugarcane : [Abstract W305]
Katarzyna Heller-Uszynska,Grzegorz Uszynski,Margaret Evers,Eric Huttner,Jason Carlig,Vanessa Caig,Frank Detering,Karen S. Aitken,Phil Jackson,Scott Hermann,Mike Cox,Angélique D'Hont,Mike Butterfield,Jean-Christophe Glaszmann,Andrzej Kilian +14 more
TL;DR: The analysis of sequence data shows that similarly to other crops sugarcane DArT markers are highly enriched for the genic, low copy number, sequences, enabling effective comparison against sorghum genome assembly.
