Journal ArticleDOI

Burnt bones and teeth: an experimental study of color, morphology, crystal structure and shrinkage

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of experimental, controlled heating on modern bones and teeth from sheep and goats were investigated, and four aspects of heating specimens to between 20 and 940°C were considered: color, microscopic morphology, crystalline structure and shrinkage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multifactorial regulation of prolactin secretion

TL;DR: There is evidence that catecholamines and indolamines directly affect prolactin release, and this concept may explain the pathogenesis of galactorrhoea-amenorrhoeA and other endocrine diseases produced by hypothalamic-pituitary disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control of polypeptide hormones by enzymatic degradation.

TL;DR: Mechanisms which control hormone destruction would tend to oppose the over and under production of hormone seen in various endocrine diseases; a loss of control over destruction might be a primary cause of endocrine disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of temperature on uptake and extrusion of water by isolated rat-liver mitochondria.

TL;DR: These findings provide additional evidence for the existence of two distinct modes of mitochondrial water uptake and extrusion: “passive” volume changes caused by changes in osmolality of the medium and “active” or respiration-dependent changes coupled to enzymic reactions.
