Burnt bones and teeth: an experimental study of color, morphology, crystal structure and shrinkage

TLDR
In this article, the effects of experimental, controlled heating on modern bones and teeth from sheep and goats were investigated, and four aspects of heating specimens to between 20 and 940°C were considered: color, microscopic morphology, crystalline structure and shrinkage.

Modified Scherrer Equation to Estimate More Accurately Nano-Crystallite Size Using XRD

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Scherrer equation (MSE) method was proposed to calculate the nano-scale size of bovine bone using XRD radiation of wavelength λ (nm) from measuring full width at half maximum of peaks (β) in radian located at any 2π in the pattern.

The microscopic determination of age in human bone

TL;DR: It was concluded that there are measurable microscopic age changes in the cortex of the major long bones of the leg that can be used to estimate the age of an individual with known accuracy over the entire range from birth to 95 years.
