Journal ArticleDOI

Ecdysteroid signaling in ecdysteroid-resistant cell lines from the polyphagous noctuid pest Spodoptera exigua.

TL;DR: The data support the existence of a normal functioning ecdysteroid receptor complex in the resistant Se4 cell lines and propose that the resistance mechanism in Se4 cells resides at the coupling between the conserved hierarchical cascade of early and early-late gene expression and the differentiation program in the Se 4 cell line.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dominance of honey bees is negatively associated with wild bee diversity in commercial apple orchards regardless of management practices

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of intensive crop management on wild bee diversity in agroecosystems, potentially jeopardizing the pollination services they provide, and showed a strong significant and negative association between honey bee dominance and all wildbee diversity metrics, regardless of local management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cloning and functional analysis of the ecdysteroid receptor complex in the opossum shrimp Neomysis integer (Leach, 1814).

TL;DR: The in vitro cell reporter assay, based on NiEcR-LBD/CrcRXR- LBD heterodimerization in Hi5 cells and validated with the natural ecdysteroid hormone PonA, represents a useful tool for the screening of putative EDCs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between larval-pupal metamorphosis and transcript expression of insulin-like peptide and insulin receptor in Spodoptera littoralis.

TL;DR: The results demonstrated a relationship between transcript expression of Spoli-ILPs and larval-pupal development, and suggested the effect of ILPs may be controlled by not only Spoleto-ILP expression but also Spolio-InR expression.

Comm. Appl. Boil. Sci. 2003 68(4): 277-286 Topical toxicity of two acetonic fractions of Trichilia havanensis Jacq., and four insecticides to larvae and adults of Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae).

TL;DR: It can be concluded that T. havanensis acetonic fractions and phloxine B were non-toxic to larvae and adults of C. carnea when treated topically, whereas triflumuron, natural pyrethrins and imidacloprid affected one or more of the evaluated parameters under the authors' conditions.
