Journal ArticleDOI
Antiviral Activity of Resveratrol against Human and Animal Viruses
TL;DR: This review highlights the antiviral mechanisms of resveratrol in human and animal viral infections and how some of these effects are associated with the antioxidant properties of the compound.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving ruminal degradability of oil palm fronds using white rot fungi
Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman,Marta Ribeiro Alves Lourenço,Hasliza Abu Hassim,Jjp Baars,Asm Sonnenberg,John W. Cone,J.L. De Boever,Veerle Fievez +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, 10 white rot fungi (WRF) were screened for their potential to increase OPF digestibility, which were colonized with one of the 10 WRF for 3 or 9 wks at 30 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of different inclusion levels of oil palm fronds on in vitro rumen fermentation pattern, fatty acid metabolism and apparent biohydrogenation of linoleic and linolenic acid
Hasliza Abu Hassim,Hasliza Abu Hassim,Marta Ribeiro Alves Lourenço,Gunjan Goel,Bruno Vlaeminck,Yong Meng Goh,Veerle Fievez +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different inclusion levels of oil palm fronds (OPF) on rumen fermentation, apparent biohydrogenation of linoleic (C18:2n-6) and linolenic acid and their bio hydrogenation intermediates are described after 24 h in vitro incubations with buffer (20 ml), rumen fluid (5 ml) and standard dairy concentrate (0.175 g).
Journal ArticleDOI
Rumen degradation of oil palm fronds is improved through pre-digestion with white rot fungi but not through supplementation with yeast or enzymes
Hasliza Abu Hassim,Hasliza Abu Hassim,Marta Ribeiro Alves Lourenço,Yong Meng Goh,Johan J. P. Baars,Veerle Fievez +5 more
TL;DR: Yeasts and enzymes were tested both in active and inactive forms, which revealed the most appropriate set-up to distinguish between the rate of supplements as direct contributors to the fermentation substrate vs. stimulators of the fermentation of the basal substrate.
Journal Article
