Journal ArticleDOI

Overproduction and purification of Treponema pallidum recombinant-DNA-derived proteins TmpA and TmpB and their potential use in serodiagnosis of syphilis.

TL;DR: TmpB is not suitable for serodiagnostic purposes as a single antigen, because a significant fraction of sera from syphilitic patients was nonreactive with TmpB, and a correlation was found between the presence of anti-TmpA antibodies and anti-cardiolipin antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Host-mediated modification of PvuII restriction in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

TL;DR: The basis for an apparent dichotomy in PvuII restriction fragment pattersn observed among strains of the M. tuberculosis complex is investigated and site-directed mutagenesis analysis revealed that this sequence was a target for modification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decrease of Drug Resistance in Salmonella in The Netherlands

TL;DR: Since 1974, tetracycline resistance in salmonellae of human and porcine origin has decreased nation-wide in The Netherlands, and this decrease has coincided with the ban on incorporation of tetrACYcline in animal feeds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Murine peritoneal macrophages activated by the mycobacterial 65-kilodalton heat shock protein express enhanced microbicidal activity in vitro.

TL;DR: The adjuvant dimethyl dioctadecylammonium bromide (DDA) was preferred because it contains no endotoxin or mycobacterial antigens and because it has been reported that DDA does not induce the production of gamma interferon.
