Hierarchical K-means: an algorithm for centroids initialization for K-means
Kohei Arai,Ali Ridho Barakbah +1 more
TL;DR: This paper transforms the result by combining with Hierarchical algorithm in order to determine the initial centroids for K-means, and shows how effective the proposed method to improve the clustering results by K-Means is.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aerosol data assimilation using data from Himawari-8, a next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite
Keiya Yumimoto,Takashi M. Nagao,Maki Kikuchi,Tsuyoshi Thomas Sekiyama,Hiroshi Murakami,Taichu Y. Tanaka,A. Ogi,Hitoshi Irie,Pradeep Khatri,Pradeep Khatri,Hiroshi Okumura,Kohei Arai,Isamu Morino,Osamu Uchino,Osamu Uchino,Takashi Maki +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the first application of aerosol optical properties (AOPs) derived from Himawari-8 data to aerosol data assimilation was presented, which demonstrated successful modeling of continental pollution that was not predicted by simulation without assimilation and reduced overestimates of dust front concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electric wheelchair control with gaze direction and eye blinking
TL;DR: An electric wheelchair controlled by gaze direction and eye blinking is proposed, and an emergency stop is generated when the electric wheelchair user does not focus their gaze consistently in any direction for a specifi ed time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vicarious Calibration of ASTER via the Reflectance-Based Approach
TL;DR: The reflectance-based vicarious calibration approach has been applied to the Advanced spaceborne Thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) and results appear to show a different trend than the onboard calibration for the VNIR indicating a possible problem with the onboard calibrator for bands 1-3.
Journal ArticleDOI
ASTER preflight and inflight calibration and the validation of Level 2 products
Kurt Thome,Kohei Arai,Simon J. Hook,H. Kieffer,H. Lang,Tsuneo Matsunaga,Akira Ono,Frank D. Palluconi,H. Sakuma,Philip N. Slater,T. Takashima,Hideyuki Tonooka,Satoshi Tsuchida,Ronald M. Welch,Edward F. Zalewski +14 more
TL;DR: The paper describes the preflight and inflight calibration approaches used for the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER), and describes the plans for validating the Level 2 data products from ASTER.
