Circulating microRNAs in sera correlate with soluble biomarkers of immune activation but do not predict mortality in ART treated individuals with HIV-1 infection : a case control study

Daniel D Murray, +1489 more
- 14 Oct 2015 -
TL;DR: No associations with mortality were found with any circulating miRNAs studied and these results cast doubt onto the effectiveness of circulating miRNA as early predictors of mortality or the major underlying diseases that contribute to mortality in participants treated for HIV-1 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lopinavir–Ritonavir versus Nelfinavir for the Initial Treatment of HIV Infection

TL;DR: For the initial treatment of HIV-infected adults, a combination regimen that includes lopinavir-ritonavir is well tolerated and has antiviral activity superior to that of a nelfinavIR-containing regimen.
Journal ArticleDOI

The implications of using an inappropriate reference gene for real-time reverse transcription PCR data normalization

TL;DR: This report demonstrates that experimental results are highly dependent on the reference gene chosen, and normalized sets of data with convention-ally used reference genes, including conventionally chosen genes to address the impact of a validation exercise on intergroup comparisons.
