Journal ArticleDOI

Screening patients for subclinical atherosclerosis with non-contrast cardiac CT.

TL;DR: Current data suggest intermediate-risk patients may benefit most from further risk stratification with cardiac CT, as CAC testing is effective at identifying increased risk and in one study motivating effective behavioral changes, and Randomized clinical trials will help determine if selective use of cardiac CT in the intermediate- risk patient would lead to more appropriate use of pharmacologic therapy and improved clinical outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Motivational effects of coronary artery calcium scores on statin adherence and weight loss

TL;DR: Overall, behavioral modification resulting in weight loss was lowest (19.8%) among those with CAC=0, and gradually increased with higher CAC scores, and a higher rate of adherences with statin therapy was observed in patients with higherCAC scores.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnostic Accuracy of Noninvasive 64-row Computed Tomographic Coronary Angiography (CCTA) Compared with Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI): The PICTURE Study, A Prospective Multicenter Trial

TL;DR: This study represents one of the first prospective multicenter, controlled clinical trials comparing 64-row CCTA to MPI in the same patients, demonstrating superior diagnostic accuracy of C CTA over myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (MPS) to reliably detect >50% and >70% stenosis in stable chest pain patients.
