Nanocellulose: From Fundamentals to Advanced Applications
Djalal Trache,Ahmed Fouzi Tarchoun,Mehdi Derradji,Tuan Sherwyn Hamidon,Nanang Masruchin,Nicolas Brosse,M. Hazwan Hussin +6 more
TL;DR: In this review, recent advances in the preparation, modification, and emerging application of nanocellulose, especially cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), are described and discussed based on the analysis of the latest investigations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of milled wood lignin and ethanol organosolv lignin from miscanthus
Roland El Hage,Nicolas Brosse,Laurent Chrusciel,Christian Sanchez,Poulomi Sannigrahi,Arthur J. Ragauskas +5 more
TL;DR: Ethanol organosolv lignin extracted from Miscanthus giganteus (using the following conditions: T ǫ= −190 à −C, t à = 60 à à min, sulfuric acid à 1.2% w/w, EtOH/H 2 OÞ= 0.65) and milled wood Lignin from MISGAPTEUS were subjected to a comprehensive structural characterization by 13 C, 31 P NMR, FTIR, UV spectroscopies and size exclusion chromatography as discussed by the authors
Journal ArticleDOI
Miscanthus: a fast-growing crop for biofuels and chemicals production
TL;DR: In this paper, the current status of the technology for biofuel production from Miscanthus within a biorefinery context is reviewed, where various pre-treatment technologies have been developed in the literature to break down the lignin structure and disrupt the crystalline structure of cellulose.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physico-chemical properties and thermal stability of microcrystalline cellulose isolated from Alfa fibres.
TL;DR: In this paper, microcrystalline cellulose (Alfa-MCC) was extracted from Alfa fibres using acid hydrolysis method and the molecular weight of the cellulose samples was determined by gel permeation chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of process severity on the chemical structure of Miscanthus ethanol organosolv lignin
TL;DR: Ethanol organosolv lignin extracted from Miscanthus × giganteus with differing levels of severity (1.75 − 13 C, 31 P NMR, FTIR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography) was compared to those from milled wood lignins from the same feedstock as discussed by the authors.
