Protocol: a highly sensitive RT-PCR method for detection and quantification of microRNAs
TL;DR: In this article, an end-point and real-time looped RT-PCR procedure was proposed to detect miRNAs from as little as 20 pg of plant tissue total RNA and from total RNA isolated from 0.1 μl of phloem sap.
Journal Article
Protocol : A highly sensitive RT-PCR method for detection and quantification of microRNAs
TL;DR: Using this assay, it is demonstrated that miRNAs are differentially expressed in the phloem sap and the surrounding vascular tissue and an alternative real-time PCR assay is developed that can further improve specificity when detecting low abundant mi RNAs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of expressed sequence tags from Actinidia: Applications of a cross species EST database for gene discovery in the areas of flavor, health, color and ripening

TL;DR: In this article, a collection of 132,577 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were derived mainly from four Actinidia species (A. chinensis, A. arguta and A. eriantha) and fell into 41,858 non redundant clusters (18,070 tentative consensus sequences and 23,788 EST singletons).
Journal ArticleDOI
Bimodal patterns of floral gene expression over the two seasons that kiwifruit flowers develop.
TL;DR: The results show that important developmental events are occurring very early in kiwifruit first-order axillary bud development (spring of the first growing season) and it is likely that this includes floral commitment (evocation).
Journal ArticleDOI
Ethylene-related genes show a differential response to low temperature during 'Hayward' kiwifruit ripening.
Xue-ren Yin,Andrew C. Allan,Bo Zhang,Rongmei Wu,Jeremy Burdon,Ping Wang,Ian B. Ferguson,Kunsong Chen +7 more
TL;DR: Kiwifruit ripened and softened slowly during storage at 0 °C, and no ethylene was detectable at the end of storage or during shelf-life, but gene expression patterns are indicative of specific and differential gene responses to low temperature during kiwif Fruit ripening.
