Journal ArticleDOI
Accelerator beam data commissioning equipment and procedures: report of the TG-106 of the Therapy Physics Committee of the AAPM.
Indra J. Das,Chee-Wai Cheng,Ronald J. Watts,Anders Ahnesjö,John P. Gibbons,X. Allen Li,Jessica Lowenstein,Raj K. Mitra,William E. Simon,Timothy C. Zhu +9 more
TL;DR: The procedures described in this report should assist a qualified medical physicist in either measuring a complete set of beam data, or in verifying a subset of data before initial use or for periodic quality assurance measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of in-vivo optical properties of human tissues and its impact on PDT
J Sandell,Timothy C. Zhu +1 more
TL;DR: The overall trend of the absorption spectra as a function of wavelength within a 95% confidence interval for various tissues in vivo is examined and the impact of optical properties on light fluence rate is discussed for various light application geometries including superficial, interstitial, and within a cavity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of the distribution of light, optical properties, drug concentration, and tissue oxygenation in-vivo in human prostate during motexafin lutetium-mediated photodynamic therapy.
TL;DR: Significant inter- and intra-prostatic variations in the tissue optical properties and MLu drug distribution are shown, suggesting that a real-time dosimetry measurement and feedback system for monitoring these values during treatment should be considered in future PDT studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of photodynamic therapy (PDT) physics
Timothy C. Zhu,Jarod C. Finlay +1 more
TL;DR: The authors will review the current state of art in PDT research, with an emphasis in PDT physics, and foresee a merge of current separate areas of research in light production and delivery, PDT dosimetry, multimodality imaging, new photosensitizer development, and PDT biology into interdisciplinary combination of two to three areas.
